Big endorsement here for Joe Biden on the eve of the Illinois Democratic primary. Governor Pritzker is backing Joe.
“It’s time to unite as Democrats to restore respect to our nation’s highest office,” Pritzker said. “After four years of Donald Trump’s failure to lead with honor, tell the truth, or stand up for the middle class, we need a steady hand and a President who is ready to move our nation past the divisiveness and vitriol that have become the norm in 2020. I trust Joe to lead with his head and heart, to do what’s right, and to get things done for the American people.”
According to a FiveThirthyEight/Ipsos, Biden won last night’s debate. According to Nate Silver, Biden picked up some support, while Sanders lost some ground.
Biden picked up a little over 3 points in potential support while Sanders experienced a 2 point decrease, but neither change was particularly big, unlike some of the gains and drops we saw in previous debates.
Sanders really needed a game changing moment and that didn’t happen. The numbers didn’t move much at all and both participants got good marks.
I thought Biden had a strong debate performance last night. He was on his game, presidential and is ready to lead on day one.
Here are the latest FiveThirtyEight polling averages from the states that are voting tomorrow:
- Florida: Biden 65.2% - Sanders 24.2%
- Illinois: Biden 59.0% - Sanders 29.0%
- Ohio: Biden 58.7% - Sanders 32.3%
- Arizona: Biden 55.2% - Sanders 31.8%
The polling averages suggest Biden is headed to four very big wins tomorrow. If this happens, his pledged delegate lead is likely to be north of 300. If this happens, it’s time to unite the party. I hope Senator Sanders considers that as his next step.
