Earlier in the week, a good friend of mine asked the previous question to provoke a response from me. This "friend," who I've known my entire life, watches way too much Fox News and obviously doesn't share my personal experiences growing up in a union house. Even worse, he fails to understand what unions really represent.
His ignorance about my position as a teacher union leader, was most disturbing. As were his friends comments about unions in America. Talk about misrepresentation.
This might be the bigger struggle than retaining collective bargaining rights in Ohio or Wisconsin.
How do we explain to our non-union friends the benefits that unions provide to all Americans?
In all reality, the only thing that conservatives hear is the "truth" as explained by Fox News.
