Gov. Strickland is closing the gap and within 4 points - nothing new there. Senate candidate Lee Fisher is dead in the water against Portman, but we've known that for months now.
So what is the good news for Democrats out of this latest Suffolk University Poll? You have to look at the other, less glamourous, statewise executive races. This is one of the first polls I have seen of all of the down ticket statewide races in Ohio. It shows the following results:
Secretary of State: Maryellen O'Shaughnessy (D) is beating Jon Husted (R) 40% - 33%.
Auditor: David Pepper (D) is beating Dave Yost (R) 33% - 29%
Treasurer: Kevin Boyce (D) is beating Josh Mandel (R) 37% - 34%
Attorney General: Former US Senator DeWine (R) is beating Richard Cordray (D) 44% - 38%.
