A Note About Wisconsin, Some Inspiration, and Beyond

Last night at the Central Brooklyn Eating Liberally group I predicted, based on the latest polls, that we would only pick up one seat in the Wisconsin state senate. I based this on the fact that in only one race was the Dem reliably leading by more than the margin of error and I didn't think we'd unseat an incumbent with that thin of a margin. Well we wound up picking up two seats, which wasn't enough to flip the Wisconsin state senate to Dem control, but it still was better than my pessimistic prediction. Keep in mind that all but one of these districts are heavily Republican, so to come as close as we did is unusual. Also remember that we easily defended some seats as well during the whole recall process. Our defense worked and our offense gained us some ground even if it wasn't the resounding success we had hoped for.

[CORRECTION: It has been pointed out that two defensive races are still to come...I am fairly confident we will win them easily, but we can't take it for granted. Read this diary by brain wrap and help out!]

We can't stop there. We have to keep fighting against the Billionaire Koch Brothers and the so-called "US" Chamber of Commerce and even keep fighting for more and particularly better Democrats. Last night two really, really excellent Democrats won in Wisconsin. We can feel good about that.

Now what?
