It's time folks. Time to get started on our plan. Today we begin choosing our first target. Here's the question: what crazy legislation has been passed in your state?
In the comments below, please tell what crazy legislation has been passed in your state and explain how it effects the average person. Be specific.
For example, Rick Scott of Florida (my state) has cost the state 42,000 jobs as a result of his high speed rail rejection. (That's just one example of how he's destroying my state).
Please be sure to be specific about what the action and/or legislation was and who it effects. Other examples might be like this:
Our governor has stopped the funding for community health centers. This effects 22,000 low income women in the state.
or
Our legislature has blocked funding for community college and job training financial aid. This effects 11,000 students statewide.
Remember This: Our goal is to target specific, effected populations of registered Democratic and Independent voters with an inconsistent voting record and to let them know exactly how the Republicans are creating laws that are having a noticeable negative impact on their day-to-day lives. AND, of course, to remind them to always vote in state and local elections.
So choose concrete issues that have an effect that the average person will notice. For example: the local clinic is suddenly shut down. Or the local school is closing. Or day care subsidies are harder to get. Or financial aid is not available. Apolitical only people vote when they see a reason to. Their reasons are usually not philosophical (e.g. corporations are not people) but practical (e.g. why is the bus only running every two hours all of a sudden?) Our mission is to show them the direct connection between these negative events in their lives and Republican legislation and to remind them to always vote in their state and local elections.
