Michigan is currently one of the few states that does not allow citizens (with the exception of police officers, and some others), to carry Tasers for self defense. There are currently a couple of bills making their way through the Michigan Senate, SB0029 and SB0030 that would at least allows holders of a Concealed Pistol License to own a Taser. If you live in Michigan, I encourage you to contact your state senator and ask them to support these bills.
I'm not entirely sure how this suggestion will be received here, so let me answer a couple complaints that could be raised.
