The earthquake and tsunami in Japan may cast a cloud over Iowa's current discussion of new nuclear power in the state. I am not referring to a cloud of radioactive fallout carried from Japan to Iowa by the prevailing wind patterns, although that is a possibility. What I mean is discussion of this world-wide news may lead to proponents of the advanced rate making legislation for nuclear power in Iowa to obfuscate the truth and bolster their arguments. An informed citizenry should be prepared to reject arguments for nuclear power rising from the steam clouds over the Fukushima reactors.
