Over the past several weeks, there has been no shortage of information on education or education reform to write about. The daunting part might just be wading through all of the opinions and finding facts and figures that back up what the pundits on both sides are slinging.
My wife suggests that I write my best stuff when I am motivated (code for upset). The problem that I'm having lately, is that I can't find much that doesn't upset me.
This week I'll try to focus on the main areas that have me scratching my head.
Today, I want to focus on the review released today of the Texas District Awards for Teacher Excellence, and the lack of support and actual research used.
The second "rant" will cover the unfunding of important reading programs by Congress.
And my final destination will tie this together with the importance of reading in my own home, to my own children.
In all reality, this may end up being a series of diaries instead of one. More to come.
