In the clearest sign yet there might be a civil war brewing on the Republican side, a prominent teabagger has publicly turned on John Boehner. Judson Phillips of Tea Party Express has called for the Speaker to be primaried.
Boehner “did not get the message” from the tea party movement demanding big cuts to federal spending, Phillips said, and “the honeymoon is over.” The movement should respond, he said, by finding “a candidate to run against John Boehner in 2012 and should set as a goal, to defeat in a primary, the sitting Speaker of the House of Representatives.”
Boehner's sin? Agreeing to keep the government running with a continuing resolution that only has $61 billion in cuts, not the $100 billion the teabaggers demanded. However, apparently even the teabaggers' friends realize the importance of--horrors!--actually working across the aisle. Per the roll call vote, even such teabagger heroes as Blake Fahrenthold, Allen West, Renee Ellmers and Bobby Schilling voted aye.
Phillips, for those who don't know, is the same guy who wanted Keith Ellison turned out of office simply because he's Muslim.
