Attention, wannabe voters! Are you registered to vote? If not, have you looked up your state's voter registration deadline? You may be running out of time to join the huge numbers of people registering, from September 24’s National Voter Registration Day to the record number of people registered in Texas to the reported spike in voter registrations after Taylor Swift endorsed Tennessee Democrats Phil Bredesen and Jim Cooper and urged fans to vote.
If you live in Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Mississippi, New Mexico, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, or Texas, then today, October 9, is your deadline to register to vote. Which means you should stop reading this post and go register RIGHT NOW. There are some extremely important elections coming up in those states, and we need every possible voter registered.
Registration deadlines are also coming up very soon in Delaware, Idaho, Kansas, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Missouri, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Carolina, and Virginia. People in Alabama, Connecticut, Iowa, Nebraska, South Dakota, Utah, and Washington have a little longer but shouldn’t get complacent. Fifteen states and the District of Columbia have taken a big step toward doing the right thing by having same-day voter registration.
