When the world’s dumbest congressman, Rep. Louie Gohmert, isn’t pretending he’s Jason Bourne, he’s out and about saying incredibly stupid and cruel things. Fellow Tea Party hack Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) has been besieged with a non-stop stream of first person accounts that point to Jordan knowingly turning a blind eye to sexual assault and misconduct back when he was the assistant wrestling coach at Ohio State University. Rep. Gohmert released a statement in support of his cowardly lion of a friend. And that statement is filled with the kind of dumb you expect from Rep. Louie Gohmert.

Unlike the Olympians who were minor children at the time they were abused, these former wrestlers were adults at the time they claim they were sexually abused by the Ohio State team doctor. Note that they do not claim they reported specific abuse to Jim Jordan or to anyone else. To the contrary, they specifically state they did not tell Jordan but instead say he should have known because there was talk around the locker room.

“These former wrestlers were adults at the time.” Let that “defense” sink in.

Gohmert continues to argue that this is a “dirty tricks” move on the part of the liberal elite. Forget about the fact that some of players who have been interviewed being Republicans and, at least at one point, supporters of Jordan. Rep. Jordan has denied any knowledge of sexual “misconduct” during his time at Ohio State, something that is contradicted by a lot of people who were there.
