Received this e-mail today from Rep. Conor Lamb (D. PA-18) in support of Danny O’Connor’s (D. OH-12) campaign in the special election to fill Rep. Pat Tiberi’s (R. OH-12) seat:
All eyes are on a special election where a former prosecutor is running in a district that some people said Democrats couldn’t win.
That might sound familiar -- but this time it’s not our campaign. Danny O’Connor is running for Congress in Ohio’s 12th district and defying the odds. He’s on the path to victory on August 7th -- and he can win if we help him, just like so many people helped me.
TheCook Political Reportjust called Danny’s race a “toss-up.” His message of protecting health care coverage, creating economic opportunities for working families and fixing partisan dysfunction in D.C. is resonating with people in his district.
That’s why Paul Ryan’s super PAC is getting worried and spending millions to stop Danny’s momentum. And as we get closer to the election, we know from experience that the attacks are only going to get more vicious and dishonest.
Danny O’Connor is a former prosecutor and county recorder who was raised by a teacher and non-profit director. He understands the challenges working families face right now. And he cares about solving problems for people and helping to rebuild a strong middle class.
Danny has what it takes to win this race. But he needs our help to fight back against the same super PACs, special interests and outside groups that outspent us by millions.
Grassroots supporters like you stepped up to make sure we could compete against their big money. That grassroots enthusiasm made the difference here in our special election -- and we need to help Danny do it again on August 7th.
