Ohio's Republican Secretary of State John Husted instituted a policy of removing names from the state voter rolls if they don't votein two yearsand don't mail back a specific voter card.
Let's be clear: This policy does nothing for democracy -- all it does is keep more Americans from exercising their rights.
This policy deliberately penalizes young people, women, veterans, and working-class Ohioans who are more likely to change addresses or work long shifts that keep them from voting.
Now, other Republican-dominated states will see this as a "green light" to institute their own ridiculous "use it or lose it" voting laws.
