Received this e-mail today from the Council for a Livable World:
There are 33 hours left before the crucial end-of-March fundraising deadline. 33 hours for candidates endorsed by Council for a Livable World to prove they have the capacity to win in November.
Political observers, no matter their affiliation, now say that the prospects for sweeping victories by national security progressives are better than ever. The backlash to President Trump’s policies have been made clear by special elections across the country, including by the victory of Senator Doug Jones (D-AL), a Council endorsee.
The President’s recent selection of uber-hawks John Bolton for National Security Advisor and CIA Director Mike Pompeo as the new Secretary of State suggests he is building a “War Cabinet.” In the past, both have favorably discussed military action against Iran. Bolton has been supportive of military strikes against North Korea as well, and Pompeo has threatened similar actions.
Council for a Livable World is backing candidates who can win and who will confront the President:
Senator Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) maintains a narrow lead in the face of immense outside spending.
Chrissy Houlahan (D-PA-06), a progressive national security champion, had her campaign boosted when her opponent dropped out of the contest last week.
Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) is clinging to a narrow lead in a state that has trended toward conservative candidates.
Former Representative Ann Kirkpatrick (D-AZ), who has a proven track record on progressive national security, is looking strong in her bid to return to Congress.
Rep. Jacky Rosen (D-NV) is in a one-point race against incumbent Senator Dean Heller (R), who vigorously opposed the Iran nuclear agreement.
Senator Jon Tester (D-MT), a repeat Council endorsee, is in for a tough race in a state President Trump won by 20 points.
Thank you for helping in these crucial contests.
Sincerely,
John Tierney
Executive Director
Council for a Livable World
Member of Congress (former) 01/03/1997–01/03/2015
