In the Republican primary for United States Senator --- for the right to run against incumbent Democrat Sherrod Brown in the November general election --- Jim Renacci at 21% doubles his nearest challenger Mike Gibbons at 10%, with 3 other Republicans in single digits.
Democrat Brown seeks his 3rd term in the Senate. He was elected with 56% of the vote in 2006 --- when he defeated DeWine --- and re-elected in 2012 with 51% of the vote. Today, it's:
* Brown 52%, Renacci 38% --- a 14-point lead for the Democratic incumbent.
* Brown 52%, Gibbons 38% --- a 14-point lead for the Democratic incumbent.
* Brown 52%, Dan Kiley 37% --- a 15-point lead for the Democratic incumbent.
* Brown 53%, Don Eckhart 37% --- a 16-point lead for the Democratic incumbent.
Approval ratings:
* Donald Trump has a Minus 10 Net Job Approval: 51% of Ohio voters disapprove of the job Trump is doing as President, 41% approve.
* By contrast, Mike Pence has a Plus 5 Net Job Approval: 46% of Ohio voters approve of the job Pence is doing as Vice President; 41% disapprove.
* John Kasich has a Plus 23 Net Job Approval: 54% of Ohio voters approve of the job Kasich is doing as Governor, 31% disapprove.
* Brown has a breathtakingly strong Plus 28 Net Job Approval: 55% of Ohio voters approve of the job Brown is doing as U.S. Senator, 27% disapprove.
* By contrast, Republican Rob Portman has a Plus 10 Net Job Approval: 43% of voters approve of the job Portman is doing as Senator, 33% disapprove.
