Received this e-mail today from former Rep. Betty Sutton’s (D. OH) gubernatorial campaign:
I wrote to you last week about Congressional Republicans’ tax plan—an attack on hardworking families across the nation.
And now, it’s gotten worse. If passed, this bill will not only deliver a massive tax cut to the wealthiest among us at the detriment of low and middle-income Americans—according to the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office, it will also trigger $136 billion in cuts from necessary areas next year, including $25 million from Medicare funding.
The bill just keeps getting worse and worse, and it’s up to us to stop it. Add your name here to tell Congress that we reject the GOP tax bill.
With each new set of unfair tax policies, Republicans’ explanations grow more and more tiresome. Their claims that tax cuts for the wealthy will in turn create opportunity for low and middle-income families are lies, plain and simple.
Trickle-down economics has never worked for anyone but those at the very top.GOP leadership would rather make their rich donors even richer than create a tax plan that works for everyone, and I won’t stand for it.
I’m sick of the tax cuts for the wealthiest and most influential at the expense of working people. If you agree, add your name here to tell Congressional Republicans that it’s time we created an economy that works for everyone instead of focusing on the special interests.
Thanks for taking action with me,
Betty
