OH-Sen: Sherrod Brown (D) Slams Trump On Another Broken Promise, Lowering Prescription Drug Prices

Received this e-mail today from U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown’s (D. OH) re-election campaign:

"Prescription drug spending has increased 10 percent annually for Blue Cross and Blue Shield (BCBS) members since 2010, an overall rise of 73 percent”
- NBC News, 5/3/17

American families are being forced to line the pockets of Big Pharma. And it’s partially because Big Pharma’s lobbyists and their Republican allies want it that way.

According to a report from CBS News, the cost of prescription drugs from Americans under age 65 is projected to go up 11.6 percent this year. For older Americans, costs are projected to rise 9.9 percent.

All while wages are only expected to rise 2.5 percent.

We need to address prescription drug costs. This is something President Trump has said he wants to see happen -- but he hasn’t done anything so far. Sign our petition and tell Trump and the Republicans to get to work on bringing down prescription drug costs.

When it’s your kid who’s sick, or when it’s your mom who needs a prescription, you don’t really get to say, “Tough luck.” Instead, millions of American families go without, so they can maintain access to lifesaving medication.

Big drug companies are getting rich by sucking up ever-greater amounts of Americans’ income. That’s money that millions of families could use to save for college, or make a down payment on a house. Instead, it’s being used to pad the bonuses and stock options of drug company CEOs.

The health of the American people is not something to exploit for financial profit. We need to take action on prescription drug costs -- add your name to mine and tell Republicans to put the American people ahead of Big Pharma lobbyists.

Thank you,

Sherrod
