Cincinnati Indivisible, a political advocacy group of high school students in the Cincinnati region, is working hard to get Ohio Senator Rob Portman to hold a town hall.
Cincinnati Indivisible wants Senator Portman to hold a town hall to answer questions concerning the Senator’s voting record and views on the Affordable Care Act, President Trump’s nominees, and the defunding of Planned Parenthood.
On March 8th, the members of Cincinnati Indivisible created a video message addressed to Senator Portman. The video, in the form of a letter to the Senator, was wildly shared on Twitter and Facebook and the organization’s leaders decided to take the video to the next level.
Cincinnati Indivisible created a gofundme page and in less than a week raised over $1,500 to buy advertising for the video.
To make the video more professional and cleanly produced, the members got together to refilm the ad. The members wore their school t-shirts to provide evidence that they are indeed from the Cincinnati region.
Cincinnati Indivisible produced, edited, filmed, and raised all of the funds for the ad on their own time and were not paid in any way to take these actions.
After constant emails, phone calls, and social media posts, Cincinnati Indivisible has still received no response from Senator Portman or his staff about holding a town hall.
Cincinnati Indivisible will be purchasing the Facebook advertising in the coming week with the money raised. It is estimated that over one hundred thousand Ohioans will see their message on Facebook.
