On March 3, 2017, at exactly 3:00pm (Eastern), hundreds of activists from across the country participated in what is believed to be the first ever Facebook Live resistance action. Dubbed #WithOneVoice, participants took to the live airwaves to broadcast their message of unity and empowerment to the new conservative administration. Their message was eloquent and clear: “We are listening, we are watching, we are Indivisible, and we aren’t going away.”
The idea, hatched in a family room in Butler County, Ohio (one of the most conservative counties in the United States) spread organically across the country. Although an accurate participation level is difficult to track because of users’ Facebook privacy settings, it is clear that the #WithOneVoice message reached thousands of viewers all over the world.
