Received this e-mail today from former Governor Ted Strickland’s (D. OH) U.S. Senate campaign:
Ted Strickland (D. OH)
Thank goodness.
Last week, a federal judge blocked Governor Kasich’s attempt to slash funding for Planned Parenthood in Ohio.
The ruling supports the health and economic security for all Ohioans, especially communities of color and low-income families.
But it’s no surprise that John Kasich and his Republican friends are not giving up his quest to defund vital, life-saving health care services for Ohio women and families: Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine has already pledged to appeal the federal court ruling and defund Planned Parenthood.
We know that Senator Portman’s record falls in line with John Kasich’s. Again and again he prioritizes his own Washington politics at the expense of Ohio’s women.
I’m celebrating last week’s court decision. But I know that our work to ensure women have access to the health care they deserve is far from over. So you can count on this: As long as Republicans like Portman and Kasich continue to attack lifesaving health care services, I’m going to stand proudly with Planned Parenthood. I hope you’ll join me.
