Received this e-mail from marriage equality champion, Jim Obergefell, in support of former Governor Ted Strickland’s (D. OH) U.S. Senate campaign:
Hi there --
I just need to share this photo (Why bury the lead, right?!):
A year ago today, I was the lead plaintiff as the Supreme Court upheld something I’ve known for a very long time: love is love. A year after a historic marriage equality ruling, as Americans across the country celebrate pride month, we’ve also faced tremendous tragedy -- as a nation, and as an LBGTQ community.
From Laramie to Orlando, we’ve witnessed too much violence and too much hate. Now more than ever, we have to hold our friends close -- it’s why I’m so proud to call TedStrickland an ally, a friend, and a champion.
Last week at the Columbus Pride Parade, you could feel the energy around Ted -- just look at that picture!
But while Ted is on the ground in Ohio celebrating Pride, Rob Portman is in Washington D.C., at the beck and call of his special interest friends. Case in point: Just days ago he voted in lockstep with the NRA against gun safety -- against keeping our communities safe. It shouldn't come as a surprise that Portman has received more independent expenditure spending from the gun lobby to prop up his campaign than anyone else.
Ohio is ready for a change -- and we need that change right now.
And that’s where you come in:
Ted needs you NOW before his end of quarter deadline -- the honest to goodness biggest deadline his campaign has ever faced. Can you help?
