With Republican-run states reeling from decades of shitty unregulated privatization and a populace wondering why their bridges are deteriorating, the carrot money being dangled in front of their faces is legalizing marijuana. Even Gov. John Kasich took time away from pretending he’s just a regular joe who wants to have three ground wars running concurrently because something something he worked with Ronald Reagan once, just signed a bill legalizing medical marijuana.
The bill lays out a number of steps that must happen first to set up the state's medical marijuana program, which is expected to be fully operational in about two years. The law would allow patients to use marijuana in vapor form for certain chronic health conditions, but bar them from smoking it or growing it at home.
Kasich's signature made Ohio the 25th state to legalize a comprehensive medical marijuana program, according to a count by the National Conference of State Legislatures.
While this is really just a dip of the toe into legalizing marijuana, for Republicans like Kasich, this is the equivalent of giving a man a peck on the lips—I’m guessing he signed the bill while looking away.
