Tomorrow is the day of the first federal election of 2016. Voters in Ohio’s 8th Congressional District will fill the seat vacated by former Speaker of the House John Boehner. Tea Party Republican Warren Davidson faces Democrat (and Kossack) Corey Foister, with James Condit, Jr. also running for the Greens. Here is a roundup of the (mostly local) media:

Cincinnati Enquirer: If you live in Butler County, Tuesday is Election Day

Residents of Ohio's 8th Congressional District - which includes Butler County - are choosing a successor to former U.S. House Speaker John Boehner on Tuesday,

Polls are open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.[...]

The numbers are all in Davidson’s favor, in what should be a safe GOP seat in a state where all 16 incumbents won re-election in 2014. But unlike the high-profile primary with a ballot topped by presidential contenders including Ohio Gov. John Kasich and businessman Donald Trump, the Tuesday election is alone on the ballots.

ABC22: Husted: 3,576 absentee ballots cast for Tuesday special election

The day before the special election for the Eighth Congressional seat Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted today said 3,576 absentee ballots have been cast.

The seat was vacated by Rep. John Boehner, the Speaker of the House, who stepped down in October.

The winner of tomorrow' special election will serve the remainder of Boehner's term, which concludes at the end of 2016.

Dayton Daily News: Don’t forget to vote in Tuesday’s special congressional election

Only a fraction of the 723,000-plus residents within the 8th Congressional District will decide on Tuesday’s special election who will become the district’s next congressman.

This special election, mandated by law and set by Ohio Gov. John Kasich, will decide who will fill the remaining months on the unexpired term when former House Speaker John Boehner, a Republican from West Chester Twp., resigned from Congress in October 2015.

Approximately two-thirds of the district’s constituents are registered to vote, and it’s expected that between 12 to 15 percent of those people will actually decide if Miami County Republican Warren Davidson, Butler County Democrat Corey Foister or Hamilton County Green Party candidate Jim Condit, Jr. will replace the retired Boehner.

3. When and where to vote

Polls are open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. today. Registered voters must cast ballots at their assigned precincts. [...]

5. It’s not over after Tuesday

While this special election will decide who will succeed Boehner in Congress by filling his unexpired term, there is still the matter of electing a congressman in November for the full two-year term.

Davidson and Foister will be on that ballot. Condit Jr., however, is ineligible after he voted in the Republican primary, not Green, in March.

AP: GOP nominee to succeed Boehner in Ohio: Time to see results

Davidson and Condit spoke out strongly against abortion and new restrictions on gun ownership. Foister said he's "pro-choice" and more needs to be done to keep guns out of the hands of criminals.

Condit drew a stir from the crowd of nearly 100 people when he blamed the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on a conspiracy involving Israel to keep the United States involved in the Middle East and to take Americans' freedoms away in the name of national security.

"9/11 is a lie in every major part," Condit said.

Spectators chuckled when Foister followed by saying, "Getting back to reality ... ."
