OH-Sen: Strickland (D) Pushes Congress To Get Serious About Cracking Down On Campus Sexual Assault

Received this e-mail today from former Governor Ted Strickland’s (D. OH) U.S. Senate campaign:

At a time in their lives that's supposed to be filled with hope and new adventures, no college student should feel unsafe. Moreover, when something terrible happens, no young person should ever feel ignored.   Nationwide, we have seen a deeply troubling increase in reports of sexual assault on college campuses, but a recent survey found that in the past five years, 41% of colleges and universities hadn't conducted a single investigation into sexual violence on their campuses.

It's time to act. We must ensure that schools are actively working to protect their students and rid their campuses of sexual predators. That's why I'm joining a coalition to pass the Campus Accountability and Safety Act.

Join us today and urge Congress to pass the Campus Accountability and Safety Act and help end the epidemic of campus sexual assault.

I want every young person to know: Your voice is heard, your future matters, and we will not allow the epidemic of campus violence to continue. Not if I have anything to say about it.

When universities and colleges turn a blind eye to the epidemic of campus sexual assault, survivors are left without resources or protection -- and alone in a culture that too often places the blame on them.

It is clear that something must be done to keep our college and university campuses safe for students. We have a lot of work ahead of us, and we need your help to make sure this act passes Congress.

Add your name to demand Congress pass the Campus Accountability and Safety Act and end campus sexual assault. Thank you for helping us protect our young people, Ted Strickland
