Received this e-mail today from former Governor Ted Strickland’s (D. OH) U.S. Senate campaign:
This Mother's Day, it's time to act and protect pregnant women and new moms from discrimination in the workplace.
Part of the fight for equal pay and for a fair economy must be ensuring that expecting moms are never forced on leave or denied opportunity. In a country that values family and fairness as much as America, workplace discrimination is absolutely inexcusable.
This is not good for mothers or their families, and it's not good for our economy. I believe as a country, we can do better. That's why passing the bipartisan Pregnant Workers Fairness Act is so critical and why it's so shameful that Sen. Portman has failed to cosponsor the act.
So this Mother’s Day, I am joining a coalition of Democrats with a simple request for Congress and Senator Portman:
Ensure pregnant workers and new mothers have the workplace protections and accommodations they deserve.

Thanks,
Ted
