Received this e-mail today from U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D. OH) in support of former Governor Ted Strickland’s (D. OH) U.S. Senate campaign:
As goes Ohio, so goes the nation.
That’s no exaggeration -- the Ohio Senate election will make or break our fight to turn the Senate blue in 2016.
That’s why I’ve thrown my full support behind Ted Strickland in Ohio. The Senate race in Ohio is incredibly close -- it’s the only tossup Senate race in a swing state, so there’s nothing more important if you care about turning the Senate blue, and keeping control of the White House.
Ted is the man for the job. He is a passionate, effective, progressive leader -- and a good friend. But the Ohio primary was yesterday, and we need to get serious. It’s official, Ted’s up against Senator Rob Portman, and millions (and millions!) of dollars in dark money ads are already being run against him. So Ted has set an aggressive goal to raise $150,000 today from a groundswell of grassroots support across America.
Will you join the Buckeye Victory Moneybomb and prove that corporations can’t buy Senate seats?
I believe in Ted. He is Ohio through and through. Ted’s devoted to standing up for middle class families, making college affordable for every student, and protecting retirement security for seniors. He’ll bring Ohio values like equality and inclusion to the Senate -- values Washington desperately needs.
But to make sure Ted wins, and to make sure the billionaire class doesn’t buy themselves a permanent friend in the Senate, there’s no time to wait. We need to make sure Ted has the resources he needs now -- before dark money billionaires spend any more money attacking him.
