Kasich’s “Let’s just help our neighbors and give them hugs and stuff like good Christian folks” is fine, but it’s got little to nothing to do with effectively running the U.S. government for the benefit of ALL of the People.
This sounds much like the baloney from one of the critics of the ACA; who stated something like “People ought to be able to pay for health care using the barter system”— you know, like in the good ol’ days when you could pay the town doctor with a couple of live chickens or maybe a whole hog if he did something to actually save your life….
But what this is again all about is conservative’s aversion to using federal funds to assist people in any way. it’s total bullcrap. If I can’t pay my mortgage or can’t pay for my kid’s college education because my salary has been cut 50% since the 2007-08 crash, I can’t holler over my fence and ask my neighbor to give me $50 or $60K. i can’t ask my neighbors to Crowd Fund local infrastructure projects so I can get a union construction job.
Thus I’m calling Kasich out on this nonsense.
That said, I still believe he has a shot at least at the VP slot. He can deliver Ohio, and that makes the electoral math easier.
