It appears that Ohio Sec of State is changing the rules to disallow 17 year old voters who were previously able to vote if they turned 18 by the time of the General.
In Ohio, 17-year-olds who will be 18 by the time of the general election are permitted to vote in primary elections.
But, according to a directive from Secretary of State Jon Husted, that option won’t be available for those who want to vote for president in this year’s primary on March 15.
Obviously this benefits those who don’t pull in the youth vote.
Hillary has a significant youth vote problem.
After also losing the millennial vote by wide margins in Iowa and New Hampshire, the results reveal a persistent weakness for Clinton. In 2012, young Americans cast the deciding votes to sweep Barack Obama to victory over Mitt Romney, even though only half of eligible voters under 29 actually turned out to vote.
So it would seem at this Republican Secretary of State is giving Hillary an assist, deliberate or not. Given that Hillary consistently polls weaker than Bernie against the GOP field, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was deliberate. But this action fits a clear pattern of disenfranchisement by Husted, so there is probably no “there” there.
