As anyone who follows me here knows, this Ohioan is fed up to HERE with Democrats and progressives who say things like “If we HAD to have a Republican, John Kasich isn’t so bad” or “Well, at least he is competent and experienced and not totally insane.” I have posted his actual horrifying RECORD over and over. It’s true – he’s been trying to paper it over with pretty words to dupe people like us into thinking “Hey, maybe there is a sane Republican.”
I don’t judge “sanity” by words though. Sure, Donald Trump says outrageous things. John Kasich DOES horrible, outrageous things. And he just did another one, buried in the middle of a hotly contested, closely watched primary weekend, when he knew attention would be elsewhere. As promised, he signed the bill to defund Planned Parenthood in Ohio, based on a lie. OK, on several lies.
This is typical for Kasich. He doesn’t want you to notice that he is the most extreme candidate in the field on women’s reproductive freedom. He doesn’t want to call attention to the fraudulent underpinning of this bill. He doesn’t want anyone to ask how he can issue pretty words about how much he cares about DOING something about Ohio’s appalling infant mortality rate (the highest in the country among African-Americans) while stripping funding from a successful program run by Planned Parenthood to reduce infant mortality in the Mahoning Valley (Youngstown area).
In 2013, Kasich pulled a similar coward’s trick of signing a bunch of nasty, unnecessary restrictions on a woman’s right to choose on a Sunday evening. Look at the photo above (taken by the amazing Karen Kasler of Ohio Public Radio) if you really want to see into the black heart of John Kasich. Notice (how can you not) he is entirely surrounded by middle-aged white men.
THIS is the real John Kasich, people. He is NOT a moderate. He thinks he knows what is best for women – or at least non-affluent women, the ones whose lives he is intent on wrecking. I was shocked to see that no one diaried this today, amidst the jungle of primary diaries, some of them so speculative and slanted as to be worthless. It’s not speculation that John Kasich is, once again, NOT A MODERATE. Attention needs to be called to the threat that all Republicans present to women, and how they are aggressively and actively rolling back the clock on women’s rights.
