So, Rahm is back on the Chicago Mayoral ballot for now, pending a (likely very quick) decision from the Illinois Supreme Court. Some may look at this and see an epic political struggle. I just see a great chance for people to learn a bit about the Law. It raises some great issues.
I'm a law geek and I tend to be evangelical about it. I've totally fallen in love with this case because it presents a relatively small number of important issues in a small enough space that I think laypersons can understand them. I take it on faith that we as progressives are better off when we understand law: both because at times it can be humbling (and prevents us from staking out untenable positions) and at time it can be empowering (as when you learn how to pull the rug out from under someone else.
