It's true!

The GOP's transition committee, led by Oregon Rep. Greg Walden, is holding its first meeting Monday evening in House Minority Leader John Boehner's office and is looking for ways to change the body's rules, its calendar, floor operations and the mechanisms that run the institution.

The 21-member committee has been soliciting suggestions from the public and is already considering things like altering the House schedule to ensure hearings aren't interrupted by votes. It has also said it is uncomfortable with the three-day workweek that has been so prevalent over the past few years The committee is also looking to cut down on administrative costs of running the House.

This story is as much if not more about Politico's need to publish something first as it is about actual news. The meeting hasn't happened yet, so that's not really news.

The news could be that Republicans won on a platform of nothing, of course. That's sort of news.

But for whatever reason, the command has gone out that there shall be a news story about the fact that the Republicans are planning to meet to come up with some newsworthy ideas. So far, the reporting tells us that the big GOP ideas for reform are: hold fewer votes, and cut some spending, somewhere in the operations of the House of Representatives.

Awesome.
