I live in the suburbs (the wealthy suburbs) of Detroit. After going through "hell and back", and as much as you think it should painfully obvious that if the Obama administration hadn't bailed out the auto industry, no one would have. And in this region especially, but also huge auto related regions (suppliers, dealers, commercial real estate, small business that cater to dealership i.e. Mains Street, and the largest source of ad revenues), in places like Ohio, Pennsylvania, etc., the economies would still be totally devastated. I talk to more people who think that auto bailout was no big deal and "we would have been fine" or "it would have worked itself out".
I simply can't believe what I hear. Even auto execs and some workers here. Either their memories are short or they believe in Mitt's fairy tale about it. Michigan should not even be anywhere near this tight. I think the stark reality of this disconnect has to be made to close the deal on "how big a deal this was" for these states and all of America for that reason.
I created this ad to make the point.for Michigan.
But we have so many creatives on Kos. I'd like to issue a challenge. Who can create an ad to better make this point like "If Detroit Had Died" or something else. Let's have at it my friends and we can vote on the best. Maybe we can even get it funded and aired. And maybe, just maybe it will wake up those blinded to the truth before election day.
