The chart above, from Buzzfeed, certainly speaks volumes as to the state of GOP intensity. Now 2008 is way up because, you know, Democrats were genuinely fired up about the Obama-Clinton primary battle. It's painfully clear by now that Republicans are nowhere near that level of engagement.

But they were engaged in 2010, and big GOP turnout in Ohio landed them the governorship and major gains up and down the ballot. Yet the state has seen maybe half the early voting that they did two years ago, despite a primary fight that isn't over.

Meanwhile, in Virginia:

1 percent turnout as of midday for the Republican presidential primary. Polls open until 7 p.m.
