On August 4, 2010 Massachusetts became the 23rd state to offer expanded health care for families supporting children with Autism.
The bill (House Bill 4935 or Act Relative to Insurance Coverage for Autism Spectrum Disorder -- ARICA).
end[ed] private insurance companies’ discrimination against individuals of all ages diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder by requiring coverage of medically necessary autism treatments, including evidence-based behavioral health treatments.
Unfortunately, 27 other states are still holding back or refusing to cover ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) related health care issues. This is an issue which will cripple our schools and health care industry.
